Is National Hug a Drummer Day Silly?

Listen up all you rhythm lovers! It’s National Hug A Drummer Day again – when we celebrate the unsung heroes of the music world – drummers! Or so says somebody who we have never heard of.

That’s right, October 10th is time to celebrate national hug a drummer day, the one day where we get hugged by random strangers who only want to show some love and appreciation to use for keeping our favorite tunes thumping and bumping.

But isn’t it all a bit ridiculous?

Maybe. But wait, there’s more! Did you know that October is officially recognized as Drum Month? That’s a whole 31 days dedicated to us wild and wacky percussionists who bring the groove to everyones lives.

All right, I’ll play along. If only because I can put on my dancing shoes, grab my djembe, and get ready to spread some rhythmic cheer. And also because this world could do with more hugs. It’s time to hug a drummer and let them know just how much we appreciate all the hard work they do.

Let’s make some noise you funky beat makers – keep us moving and grooving all year long!

Well, mark your calendars folks, October 10th, each and every year. It’s the day to celebrate all the talented drummers out there who keep the beat for their bands from the back of the stage.

From rock to jazz to pop, and of course African drums, drummers are often the heartbeat of the musical performance. So on this holiday, we’re skipping the calorie counting and weight lifting to give a big hug to the musician behind the djembe.
