Djembe Rope Tool – Djembe Fid – A Thick Needle for Threading Rope – 5mm

What Is It? A very large blunt needle. This version is designed to be connected to 5mm rope, making a large needle and thread. The needle helps you get the rope into and out of all the tight spaces on your drum.

How Does It Work? One end has a hole with a thread inside. You connect the rope by shaping and melting it, then pushing it in to the hole and letting it cool. It then sets in the shape of the thread, and forms a surprisingly strong bond. Honestly, I'm shocked at how strong the connection is.

When Do You Use It? For putting new rope on the drum. For 4mm rope, this is usually when you're threading rope to the metal rings on your djembe (called the crown). It makes the rope work quicker and easier. And they are also just fun to use.

NOTE: This is the 5mm version is for connecting to 5mm rope. You use it for threading rope vertically between the rings. For threading the crown rope, we suggest the 4mm fid.

We suggest: Get a 3-pack. It has 2 x 4mm fids and 1 x 5mm fid. You can use extra 4mm fid for making double crowns, or for threading both ends of a single crown.
