For djembe drum fans, hobbyists & professionals
The drum of a thousand voices
jembe drumming has taken a thousand years to emerge as the world's favourite African music genre.
In the last 50 years, the djembe has gathered an immense global following and fired up a new passion for African drumming and world music.
...enjoyed by millions of people. If you're one of them, you'll enjoy this site too.
Afrodrumming was made for all you African drumming and djembe enthusiasts, hobbyists and professionals. It was set up in 2009 by Al Paton, percussionist and djembe teacher with the world's largest interactive drumming company.
What started out as a book has become a large collection of free high-quality information that is not available anywhere else. Much of it has been collected through years of experience, research and interviews with other professional percussionists.
We like the idea it's free, but we also like it when you visit our shop (someone has to feed the cat). We have some great CDs available and offer mp3 downloads too.
In addition there are free lessons, videos, a list of worldwide teachers, old photographs, a bit of history and much more. We also hope to connect the drumming community all over the world with our Facebook group, forum and teacher listings.
We love hearing from you too, so feel free to say hi.
